SUBTITLE 1 (T1DQ1):
Diversity refers to the variety of differences between individuals. This includes race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, physical abilities and disabilities, religion, political beliefs, education, socioeconomic background, language, cognition, and culture. It is essential to incorporate diversity and inclusion into an organization’s culture. When a company actively embraces and celebrates its employees’ different individual characteristics and perspectives, employees feel accepted and valued within their workplace (Rip, 2020). In addition to staff feeling more accepted and valued, an organization receives additional benefits. By an organization actively seeking a more diverse workforce, you tap into a much wider talent pool (Peakon, 2021). “It’s creative business ideas that set companies apart from one another and employing a diverse group of people can help bring in a wider and more unique pool of ideas to help you edge out the competition” (Rip, 2020). A team with more diverse backgrounds can produce more unique solutions than a team with similar backgrounds.

SUBTITLE 2 (T1DQ2):
The Health insurance Portability and Accountability Act was implemented by the Department of Health and Human Services in 1996 with the intention of helping healthcare organizations follow best practices for the management of sensitive information (hipaajournal). This act details best practices to protect the privacy and safety of patient information and how to keep it safe (hipaajournal). The HITRUST and Common Security Framework is an organization that was created by the Health Care Alliance which is a non -profit company that helps institutions strengthen the implementation of HIPAA and the security of PHI (Armor,2016). The Common Security Framework is used to assess the maturity of security systems across a spectrum of regulatory requirements (Armor,2016). Although the HIPAA and HITRUST aim to improve the security of PHI, the HIPAA is a federally mandated act with penalties for violation, the HIPAA is an act that details the standard for compliance, the HITRUST is an organization that helps achieve those standards (givainc.com). HITRUST cannot replace HIPAA and Meaningful use as it aims to advance the implementation of HIPAA and not interfere with its goals. Patient privacy and security will always be protected by HIPAA and companies with use HITRUST and Common Security Framework to coordinate all aspects of accessing, storing, and using patient information.

SUBTITLE 3: (FARNAZ’S POST) (THIS IS JUST A DISCUSSION POST THAT NEEDS TO BE
REPLIED BACK TOO. PLEASE USE AT LEAST ONE OF YOUR OWN REFERENCES):
The purpose of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to improve efficiency in the healthcare industry, to improve the portability of health insurance, to protect the privacy of patients and health plan members, and to ensure health information is kept secure. (What is the Purpose of HIPPA, 2021).
The Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST) is the organization that created and maintains the Common Security Framework, or CSF. The CSF is a certifiable framework that brings together several other compliance frameworks and standards including HIPAA, PCI, ISO, and NIST. By harmonize the CSF maps all of those standards together, with the CSF as the central mapping key. (What is HITRUST, 2020).
Meaningful use is a term used to define minimum U.S. government standards for electronic health records (EHR), outlining how clinical patient data should be exchanged between healthcare providers, between providers and insurers and between providers and patients. (Charles, M. & DelVecchio, A., 2021).
The HIPAA Privacy Rule requires that covered entities apply appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the privacy of protected health information (PHI), in any form. Covered entities must implement reasonable safeguards to limit incidental, and avoid prohibited, uses and disclosures of PHI, including in connection with the disposal of such information. HITRUST does not replace HIPAA, but it can provide measurable criteria and objectives for applying “appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards. (Stone, J., 2021).
SUBTITLE 3 (JANESSA):
HIPAA is a federal law that helped add protection to sensitive patient information and required the consent of the patient to release pertinent health information. (CDC, 2018) The HITRUST Organization of health care helps organizations with HIPAA regulations as well as helping the business prove that they are HIPAA compliant partners. (HITRUST, n.d) Common Security Frameworks are all of the platforms that help provide a network of cyber security protocols to help gatekeeper patients information. (Ignyte,2021)
All three of these terms coincide with each other because even if a company decides to only be HIPAA compliant, HI-TRUST methods can be applied to prove the company follows suit and the platform serves as a constant security check due to the security measures it takes for the patient medical records to be secured properly.
If anything HITRUST comes about, the compliance can be checked but it does not replace the HIPAA act.
