After reading Chapter 2 and studying the above pdf file on how to brief a criminal case I would like you to brief the case Lawrence v. Texas 539 U.S. 558 ( 2003).  You can find this case on page 61 of the eleventh edition of your text and page 62 on the 12th edition.   This is a famous U.S. Supreme Court Case that basically legalized the act of sodomy, throughout the U.S., between consenting same sex and opposite sex adults.  This is a historical case that contributed ultimately to the legalization of same sex marriage.  The issue in this case is basically do two consenting adults have a right of privacy in their own bedroom.  As Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’connor pointed out in her concurring opinion the case could have just as well been settled on Equal Protection.  The Texas statute criminalized the act of sodomy between same sex couples and not opposite sex couples, thus violating the equal protection clause of the 14th amendment.

There is no word count requirement on your cases briefs.  Make sure you format it the same as shown in the above example case (State v. Metzger) FACTS:   ISSUE:    RULE:  APPLICATION OR ANALYSIS:   CONCLUSION:
