Imagine that you’re in chemistry class and your professor tells you that when sugar is added to water it dissolves. Then she does a demonstration, pouring a packet of sugar into a glass of water and stirring it. Soon you see that the sugar does indeed dissolve in the water. Is there any reason to believe that the sugar will dissolve in the water the next time she tries the same demonstration? Why or why not?
