Explain what it means to be assessment literate including the difference between summative and formative assessment (Module 1) and including the concepts of reliability, validity, and fairness (Module 6).
Write about your understanding in the care and cost of large-scale standardized tests (Module 6) and distinguish between norm-referenced and criterion-referenced varieties (Module 1). How would you compare them with performance assessments (Module 9) and formal observations (Module 8)?
Explain your understanding of appropriate and inappropriate test preparation and on your understanding of the practice of “teaching to the test,” as well as ways to make it engaging and to reduce test anxiety (Module 7).
In a few sentences, give your understanding of the Response to Intervention progress-monitoring process and how it informs student tier placement. Include the concepts of rate of improvement, gap analysis, dual discrepancy, and how we determine adequate progress (Module 3).
Describe your beliefs in fair grading practices, including giving extra credit, allowing do-overs, assigning zeros for cheating or work not handed in (Module 11), and the concept of giving exemplars, drafts, feedback, and student-friendly rubrics (Module 10).
